While PDS Health is known for providing quality local care, we’re also proud of our global footprint in oral health. Since 2010, we’ve partnered with nonprofits and the PDS Health Foundation to bring dental care to those in need around the world. This means that 650 volunteers, including both clinical and non-clinical team members, have contributed over 29,000 hours in countries such as Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Fiji. We partner with local experts and have helped more than 17,000 patients and donated over $12 million to dental care overseas. And while we are proud of the numbers, the truth is, the way service impacts our team members is what inspires and motivates us.
Millions of veterans who are eligible for medical care through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are not eligible for dental care, and a study by the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health finds that nearly 600,000 veterans reported productivity loss in the past year due to oral health issues. Furthermore, two in five veterans described their oral health as fair or poor. Knowing the strong link between oral health and overall health, the dental industry can and must do more to support the nation’s veterans. At PDS Health, we’re helping connect veterans with the dental care they need.
Creating healthier, happier patients extends beyond the walls of a dental practice. Across PDS Health’s nationwide network of dental and medical practices, team members regularly volunteer their time, share their expertise and partner with local organizations to improve access to care for the communities they serve.
When Danny Bickel joined PDS Health more than seven years ago, he wasn't simply looking for an opportunity to manage a dental practice. He wanted to be part of an organization whose values showed up in everyday actions.
